![]() ![]() Either way, it should be the same for both versions.Īs for issues with HL:S, I've only begun to encounter them. As for disabling the HUD, don't swear me to it, but I *think* the command is "hud_nodraw". That should enable the console on your older HL. Right click on the icon on your desktop, and add "-console" at the end of the filename path. I have a guide on it as well if you're interested. There are ways to disable HUD and 'holster' the weapons in the Steam version of Half-Life 1 though. Even still, there aren't any cheats that are default to the game that can disable the HUD. That's strange, I've tried getting the console to work before but I've never had any luck. Originally posted by CMDR Sweeper:WON version of HL doesn't even have the console? Odd, cause my old HL non steam, that barely runs on modern hardware does have a console, but you need to enable it with a launch shortcut in any case. Hell, the WON Version of Half-Life doesn't even have a Console. I also like Half-Life: Source more-so than the original because of the better immersion, you can use cheatsto disable the HUD and holster your weapons, which the original Half-Life doesn't have. ![]() Most people have Half-Life: Source for it's updated textures and ragdoll physics, and multi-player that's still alive for the most part. ![]() ![]() I know some of you are probably thinking "Well if you think HLS is so FUBAR, why don't you just play the original?", well not everybody has the original. You can't harm or kill them until the portal has been closed for about 3 seconds, which is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ because Vortigaunts, Alien Grunts, and every other Alien with ranged attacks can shoot at you as soon as they appear on the map. If you shoot them as soon as they teleport in, the bullets travel through themand hit whatever's behind them, explosives don't harm them either. In the older versions of Half-Life: Source, as soon as a portal opened you could shoot and kill them before the portal even closed, NOW there's about a 3 second delay before your bullets affect them. It's really ♥♥♥♥ing annoying.ģ: You can't shoot Aliens as soon as they teleport in. If a Scientist says something, you can hear them clearly from anywhere in the map, the same goes for Security Guards and H.E.C.U as well.Įven some Aliens make noises, and while you can't hear them from across the planet like the humans of the game, they're poorly rendered noises and they're just out of place. That combined with their voices echoing throughout the ENTIRE LEVEL. It just makes them all say the same thing somebody else has said, and it's not realistic at all. Half-Life's Scientists didn't have that much speach to begin with, so why did VALVe decide to have the Scientits say what little they did have? For about 30 seconds until you hear the scientist blabber the same ♥♥♥♥ for the 4th time in a row. You have to walk straight in front of them in order to be hurt.Ģ: Everybody talks now! MY guess is that VALVe added this so Half-Life would feel more realistic and alive, and it does. They never move unless you get within their attack range, and even then they don't turn towards you. The same goes for Headcrabs as well, but Houndeye's will move rarely, when you shoot them, not Headcrabs. VALVe should have just removed them from the game if they were going to ruin them this bad, they can't harm you in any way unless you walk up to them and LET them attack you. So, I say we list all of the glitches we've found in this game so we all know what type of crap to expect for the future!ġ: The AI has been bugged straight to hell, Headcrabs and Houndeyes don't even move for ♥♥♥♥s sake! Houndeyes NEED to be able to move for their attack to have any effect! They just stand there and let you mow them down, they don't care what-so-ever. So, VALVe managed to ruin a 15 year old game with an extremely ♥♥♥♥ update. ![]()
